Assets is a grid of the files in your Shopify store: images, videos and documents. It works like the Products editor, with the same search, filters and views.

Finding files

Search by file name, alt text or product. Ready-made views include "Missing alt text" and "Not ready for Shopify". You can also filter by whether a file is ready and by how many products use it.

Editing

Click a cell to change a file's alt text or name. Changes wait as edits until you choose Update, which sends them to Shopify. If some files fail, Moddi tells you how many and why.

Using AI

AI can write alt text for images and suggest descriptive file names, for example turning IMG_2041.jpg into a name that says what it shows. Results are drafts you review first.

Where a file is used

Each file shows whether it's used on any products, and how many. A file that isn't used on a product is marked "Not used on a product".

Uploading

Upload images, videos and documents directly in Assets. They go straight to Shopify and aren't kept anywhere else.

Getting files from your store

Files already in your store appear after you run Shopify sync in Assets. Files added in Shopify later don't arrive on their own, so run Shopify sync again to bring them in. Moddi tells you how many files were added or removed.
