Your first sync
What happens after you install Moddi and how long copying your catalogue takes.

When you install Moddi, it copies your products from Shopify so the editor can work instantly. This is the first sync.
What you'll see
A banner on the Home page shows progress: reading your catalogue from Shopify, then saving your products, then finishing up translations, variant data and files. Once it's done, the first step of the setup guide is ticked.
How long it takes
It depends on the size of your catalogue. A store with about 2,000 products and thousands of images took about a minute in our testing. Larger stores take longer.
While it runs
- You can look around the app.
- Bulk edits and AI runs only cover the products saved so far, so wait for the sync to finish before running them on everything.
If it fails
Moddi keeps retrying. If the "We couldn't finish copying your catalogue" message stays, contact support at support@moddi.app.
After the first sync
Moddi stays up to date when products change in Shopify. Files in the Assets editor refresh when you press Shopify sync there.
